Welcome to the ‘About Me’ Disguised As ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ portion of this site where you can take a gander into the mind of representational artist Nadir Balan.

Q: So you’re a professional comic book penciller?

A: yes.

Q: What kind of training do you have?

A: I received my BFA from Alfred University where I trained in various disciplines including sculpture, painting, graphic design, illustration and art history. I also interned at Marvel Comics where I learned the tricks of the trade. Everything else comes from professional experience in the penciling and publishing world of sequential art. Oh, I also was the Art Director for a company for a few years.

Q: Can you tell me about your sigil?

A: The 17^th century grimoire ‘The Goetia; the Lesser Key of Solomon the King’ features the sigil of the demon Balan, a king of hell and leader of it’s armies. I adapted this sigil to suit my own purposes, as I figure, it is my birthright.

Q: What is page8productions?

A: Page8productions is a way for creative talent to find support, a home, and promote each other in various media, it is also any collaborative effort between the godfathers of Page8productions: Nadir Balan and Maki Naro, who are featured on this site.

Q: Is it true that you once ate an entire buffet’s nightly supply of watermelon, while a little child looked on and cried?

A: this little piece of trivia that has been circulating, in fact, does have a basis in truth, don’t try to get in on my watermelon action, I have a hydration thing.

Q: Let’s get back to comics, do you do your own inking?

A: I don’t do my own inks, however I have an amazing inker; Mostafa Moussa with whom I’ve teamed up. We’ve done various projects together and can be hired as a ready-made art team, you can see our pencil and ink samples in the galleries section!

Q; What about commissions?

A: I do do commissions, page rates depend on what is wanted, naturally. There will usually be a bit of a wait but this all can be discussed when you contact me at Nadirbalan@hotmail.com

Q: Will you do a whole bunch of work for me for free?

A: no

Q: Do you do spec. work?

A: That’s the same question in disguise.

Q: Will you do a whole bunch of work for me for free if I just praise you a lot, you gorgeous talented man-hunk who should be drawing all comics in production at all times?

A: sure why n– hey wait, NO! get outta here guy, next question.

Q: Can I access you anywhere in the real world, like, physically?

A: There have been numerous Nadir sightings around the east coast in the past decade,  some claim him to have been showing at NYC galleries. However it’s not uncommon for a Nadir sighting to be merely a misinterpretation of the planet Venus, as in the Famous Jimmy Carter case; the historic record is a bit fuzzy but I’m pretty sure the exchange went something like this:

Jimmy- Hey! is that Nadir over there?

Secret Service- No sir, that’s Venus.
